Clare Layzell
Clare Layzell first worked with CivicArts in 1997, while still a student of architecture in London. Having gained wide-ranging experience in both architectural and graphic
working environments, she successfully completed her architectural studies at the
University of London in 2003. In addition to her London degree, she worked and
travelled extensively throughout Europe, attending the Bauhaus Summer School during her gap year.
During these formative years, Clare developed an interest in retail and more latterly, in interiors. Having joined CivicArts on a permanent basis upon graduation, she has worked on a variety of retail-driven schemes of varying scales and levels of intricacy, each bestowing a deeper understanding of commercial design and its inherent complexities.
She has been instrumental in many iconic CivicArts projects including: Bluewater, Kent; Mid Valley Gardens, Kuala Lumpur; Mall of Kuwait, Kuwait City; Island Gardens, Miami; Jersey Waterfront, Channel Islands; Cockle Bay Wharf, Sydney; One New Change, London; Arman Mall, Kazakhstan; Arena Square, Birmingham; and most recently Saaddiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. Clare continues to work primarily within retail, leading from concept through to detailed design development.
