Greenwich Peninsula
London - UK
Leaving memories of ephemeral millennial festivities behind, this design proposal sought to permanently regenerate a global engineering icon and its surrounding peninsula. Integrating the former Millennium Dome into a new mixed-use development, it offered over 8 million square feet of office, retail, and leisure amenities, all served by excellent transport links. Civic spaces filled with shops, restaurants, cafés, and cultural amenities promised to animate the abandoned peninsula. With a dense residential quarter, this former industrial wasteland would have become a vibrant alternative to the segregated-use schemes found in the south east, as typified by the corporate solemnity of neighbouring Canary Wharf.
